A party of Branch Members paid a return visit to John Jolly’s wonderful display of railway memorabilia at his Museum complex at Burnham on Crouch. In addition he has a running line of about half a mile and train rides are available during the day.

Six steam and ten diesel locomotives are currently on site ranging from a 48hp Rushton and Hornsbys shunter to a BR Class 47 a 120 ton 2750hp monster which must have taken some getting there on a low loader!

The Museum has over eighty carriages and wagons, forming one of the largest and most varied of historic stock in Eastern England.

As usual John was on hand to show visitors round and answer any questions.

Amongst some of the smaller items on display was a wonderful collection of cast iron trespass notices as well as a original destination board to be found at Liverpool Street Station and a LNER horse drawn wagon some of which are illustrated.

There is a large car park and picnic area and a souvenir shop together with light refreshments which are always available.

The Museum is open every week end and daily throughout August.

A thoroughly recommended visit.
