Northampton
Paddington/Marylebone/Banbury Line
About 6 miles of this route passes through Northamptonshire.
Aynho - Is the junction of the line from London Marylebone with the London Paddington to Birmingham main line. Northbound the line from Marylebone is carried over the main lines on an impressive skew bridge (SP497328), to the south of the junction. The ex Aynho station building remains despite closure in 1964, it is of classic Brunel design, and can be viewed from the adjacent over bridge, it is now a private dwelling. Close by on the Marylebone lines are the remains of the former Aynho Park Station, closed in 1963.
Kings Sutton Station |
Kings Sutton Station (SP494361) - Northamptonshires smallest station. The historic photo shows the extent of the architecture on the Banbury bound platform. The southbound platform has an ugly, mis-shapen metal "bus shelter"

The new footbridge is now in use as Class 165 028 departs for London Marylebone |
