On 16 May 2009 ex-GWR Castles 5043 (Earl of Mount Edgcumbe) and 5029 (Nunney Castle) breast the summit of Llanvihangel Bank with 'The Welsh Marches Express' the 07.15 Tyseley to Tyseley via Shrewsbury, Abergavenny, Gloucester and Old Hill.

On 28 March 2009 Pathfinder's 'Cwm and Go(ne)' was topped and tailed by 37401 and 60024 as is the norm on such tours. 60024 is seen at the head of the train at Park Junction on its return from Machen Quarry; the train will take the line into Newport from this point.

The last few years have seen a number of trains operated on behalf of the MOD to and from Haverfordwest, this shot taken on 22 May 2009 at Briton Ferry shows 66068 working the return 7X39 Haverfordwest to Didcot conveying a load of armoured vehicles.

On 25 July 2009, 60163 'Tornado' commences the 1 in 52 climb up Cockett Bank passing the now unseen Swansea Landore Depot to the right of this shot; it was working the 1Z60, 06.10 Eastleigh to Carmarthen, 'The Towy Tornado' and had replaced a diesel at Bristol Temple Meads.
