The Surrey Branch of the RCTS organizes a comprehensive programme of indoor meetings and outside visits for railway enthusiasts in the West Surrey area. Over the winter period between September and May, monthly meetings are held in Woking with invited speakers giving talks and slide presentations on a range of railway subjects. Areas of interest include modern operations, overseas railways, the heritage scene and memories of the days of steam. Senior railway executives are invited regularly to give their views on aspects of present and future railway operation. At each meeting there is also a comprehensive sales table with a range of RCTS publications, second hand books, photographs and other railway items available for purchase.
The above meetings are held in the Woodham Hall, Christ Church which is situated in the Town Square, Woking, GU21 6YG. . The church is two minutes walk from Woking Station and the route is signposted. Car parking is available in nearby council car parks in the Peacocks Centre and Victoria Way. Meetings start at 19.00 for 19.15.
The branch does not charge members or visitors for attendance at indoor meetings, but a voluntary collection by way of donations is normally made which includes entry to the raffle.
