Since the commencement of this traffic until 31st December 2007

424 trains had worked in from Westbury involving 169 different locomotives.

Most used were 59005 (21), 59101 (20), 59001 (18), 59002 (16), 59104 (15).  Most used Cl.66 was 66231 with 8 visits and  Cl.60s 60010/41/83 each made four visits.

Meldon Quarry Traffic.

 

During 2007 187 trains ran from Westbury to collect ballast for Network Rail.  121 were operated by EWS and 66 by Freightliner.

95 different locomotives were used. 62 EWS and 33 Freightliner.

Most used was 66223 with 7 visits and 66615 made 6 visits.

Since the commencement of the contract 352 trains have taken ballast out of the quarry, 219 by Freightliner and 133 by EWS.

69 different EWS, 49 different Freightliner and 1 DRS Cl.66/4 on loan to Freightliner have been used.

The most used has been 66536 with 18 visits, 66603 with 14, 66606 with 13, 66510 with 12 and 66520/81 and 66604 each with 11 visits.

The last working unrecorded by the West of England Branch was on 21st September 1996.  Since then, 1,055 consecutive workings have been recorded.

In April 1999 the 1 milllioneth tonne of clay was carried on the train.

On 2nd November 2002 the first of an order for 30 new 101.6 tonnes gross TE TEA(S) bogie tanks was trailed on the train.

On 18th December 2002 the first complete train of 16 of the new tanks ran.
