Approaching the junction with the Oxcroft Colliery branch, which can be seen diverging right, with some hopper wagons standing on one of the roads. Both lines pass under the M1 motorway about half a mile from this location.

I think you're not quite correct here, Max. We're already on the Oxcroft Colliery branch; the line simply does an S-bend at this point. For many years, the site operated as an opencast disposal point, but at the date of this photo the Colliery was still working. The Seymour Junction-Elmton & Creswell line from which The Oxcroft branch diverged is off-picture to the left with the M1 in-between.
