In the middle of Stanton Iron Works approaching the signals for Stanton New Works Sidings box. As far as I can work out the train is being signalled onto the connection over to the GN side. This was opened in May 1968 to allow the closure of the GN and GC lines through Nottingham Victoria. The new line isn't quite as impressive as the old route!

I should know these signals. I worked them for 8 years. The left hand stop signal is for West Hallam or Kaldo plant SDS. The Ssignal that is off is for Fork Jtn., the ex GN sid., The other is the up starter to Stanton Gate.

Members may be interested to know, that the two stop signals facing the engine & designated 7A & 7B on the signalbox diagram but only worked by 1 lever. This was determined by the position of the facing points. The signalbox can be seen under the conveyor belt overbridge bottom left hand side.
