Derby shed /works, viewed from London Road overbridge at S of station

This looks like the view of Derby stabling point situated next to the Midland Main Line immediately in front of the A4. We are on the A6 London Road bridge over the Birmingham line& looking roughly NE with the works in the background - Derby powerbox is [or soon will be] built immediately to the right of the turntable. The 3 wooden lifting frames were possibly unique to this depot. One can be seen above the A4 tender with the others to its left.

60019 "on shed" at Derby S.P.. 6/3/66. The loco had brought 1T70 from Mancherter via Crewe for William Deacon Bank Club.

Plenty of incidental detail in this shot to enjoy.

The foundations in the foreground are a remnant of the North Staffordshire Railway coal stage - that company's engine shed - long demolished - stood just off scene to the right. Four Shed (the MR's No 4 shed at Derby) forms the backdrop.
