Further, I'm told by our CM&EE that the actual speed at the summit of the first climb was 42 MPH, this must be something of a record. The driver was Jim Clarke with his father Don as the TI.

Clan Line had an excellent run on yesterday's Surrey Hills, she topped the summit at Gomshall at 40 MPH from a standing start at Shalford with 11 Pullmans plus the support coach weighing 464 tons, the gradient is 1/100 steepening to 1/96, the speed was 58 MPH at Gomshall and 51 MPH on the 2nd summit...

Clan Line had another successful trip on Saturday 15/07 "Surrey Hills', this means she has now completed 6 revenue earning trains since the return to Stewarts Lane from Crewe on 30/06. Three of these trains were on consecutive days, "Waterloo Sunset" to Yeovil on 09/07, and "Surrey Hills" VIP charte...

Clan Line has really hit the ground running, on Friday we hauled a VVIP 'Surrey Hills' charter. Yesterday morning whilst getting ready to depart on the 'Waterloo Sunset' to Yeovil we heard that we would be needed to cover today's VIP 'Surrey Hills' because both Braunton & Royal Scot were unavailable...

Passed FTR , all prepared, polished and ready for tomorrow's 'Bournemouth Belle'. This is the 50th anniversary of the last time the Belle was steam hauled also the 50th anniversary of Clan Line's last day in traffic.

There are some photos and videos of last night's run on the Nat Pres website, also Didcot GWS will be opening at 1000 tomorrow to enable anyone wishing to get photos of the loco prior to it's departure for Stewarts Lane at 1119.
