Railway 'virus closures'

Post by pdeaves » Fri Apr 10, 2020 12:45 pm

With the cut back in railway services to serve only the most necessary travel, I thought it would be good to record those bits of railway that have now lost all passenger services. If we can compile a reasonably comprehensive list I will put it in the RO. Unsurprisingly, many early casualties are routes with few regular services (as listed on http://www.psul4all.free-online.co.uk/2020.html), but what about other lines and stations? Those that I know so far are:
Barton on Humber line (24th March);
Carnforth Station Jct.-Settle Jct. (20th March);
Eastleigh-Romsey via Chandlers Ford (23rd March);
Farington Curve Jct.-Ormskirk (24th March);
Frodsham Jct.-Halton Jct. (23rd March);
Kirkby-Wigan (19th March);
Morecambe line (21st arch);
Yeovil Jct.-Yeovil Pen Mill (23rd March)

Combe (21st March);
Feniton (23rd March);
Finstock (21st March);
Grimsby Docks (24th March);
Heyford (22nd March);
New Clee (24th March);
New Holland (24th March);
Pemberton (19th March);
Pilning (4th April);
Sankey for Penketh (29th March);
Shipton (29th March);
Styal (30th March);
Whimple (23rd March)

There seems to be a bias towards Northern, GWR and SWR. Have other operators made significant cutbacks? What is (or rather, isn't) going on in your area?
