Re: RAILWAY OBSERVER CHANNEL

I was a little surprised that after submitting a report to the Scottish Editor on 29th July, two days after the Sept deadline apparently, about the introduction of the Class 385s on the Waverley/Queen St service and amongst other things the alterations to Platform 12 at Waverley that the Aug Edition...

Re: Dalescroft club and Dale W Fickes

I went on the Easter Tour of Scotland in 1974 which was from 13th to 15th April. Dalescroft used to run 2 or 3 trips to Scotland over Easter from various parts of the country so what you saw was dependant upon which tour you were on. I was on the tour from Leeds/Bradford which started with Millerhil...

Re: Glasgow

Paisley used to be OK but with the demise of coal traffic there is little here now. For north bound out of Mossend Yard then somewhere like Cumbernauld and for south bound Holytown. Both these places though are quite desolate and can be a little unsettling. A check of RTT is required to see the best...

Re: Doncaster Works lists

Apologies the date of the 17/11/74 should be the 24th which has already been reported. I read the date of the East Anglia trip by mistake, The undated visit must have been during Dec of that year when there were two visits but I am unsure which is the correct date.

Nigel

Re: Dalescroft Railfans

I have records of visits to Doncaster Works spanning the years 1973 to 75, all with the Dalescroft Railfans. I think there are 4 visits in total. Plenty of Class 31s around at the time. If anyone wants this info then please let me know. I also recollect that we visited Stratford Works but this was a...

Re: Dalescroft Railfans

I was a member of this Society in the early 70s until its demise. As already stated it organised shed visits around the country with stating points from various locations. All the trips were by coach with many starting very early depending on the locations to be visited. There were annual trips arou...

Re: Clapham Junction

Either platform 9/10 as previously noted or 11/12. The problem with Clapham is the stock coming in and out of the carriage sidings then throw in the number of trains and it becomes rather difficult. A good pair of binoculars is required to try and get some of the stock before it leaves or arrives at...
