Re: Generational Query
Looks like the majority (in the Forum/online) seems to be pre-1968. And hands-on experience inside signal boxes--not something boys can dream of today. I wonder if the Society has recruited the first batch of privatisation-era colleagues brought up on Turbostars and Pendolini....

Re: RO 2014 Index
The Branch Newsletter is exactly what it says on the tin. It is a means of disseminating information on matters related to the management of the Society to all branch officers. It has been in use for 14 years. B N Number 1 was issued in November 2000. It is left to branch chairman and secretaries t...

Re: RO 2014 Index
Given that not an insignificant number of readers of RO seem curious, is there any way we can see it online?
My hunch is that not everyone is necessarily opposed to the change, per se; but would like to see what sort of discussions went on--now that we are told about it in the RO.

Re: Generational Query
Thanks again, everyone, for your contributions. A bit more disclosure from me: having grown up around Tokyo in the 1970s, it was all bout high-density EMUs--and nothing else. Mainline steam disappeared by 1975 in Japan, but I never came close to them. My parents bought me books along the lines of "w...

Re: Generational Query
Thank you for your replies thus far. Let's see if we can hear more.
It would be interesting to find out a bit more about the current demographics of the Society, as we frequently read about the need to increase membership, and to reach out to younger generations.

Generational Query
Out of sheer curiosity, how many of us--in the Forum and the wider Society--have: (1) Picked up railway enthusiasm post-1968; and/or (2) Picked up railway enthusiasm much 'later', say, at the time of sectorisation? Dislosure: in my case, it is (1) but before (2)--albeit in a non-UK context. TTrains

Re: RAILWAY OBSERVER CHANNEL
'A full set of RO Ed Guidelines will be placed on the website when we conclude our review - hopefully in next month or two.'
Thank you. That should be very helpful.

Re: Dead or Dying Already?
Dear All, I am with BigMal442: I think it is going to take some time. Also, for those members with busy full time jobs and/or young families, oftentimes, branch fixtures might not be feasible (especially if one has to travel by train--though, I take it, none of the members will complain!) due to tim...

Re: RAILWAY OBSERVER CHANNEL
First of all, as someone who publishes articles and books for a living, I can imagine the hard work that goes into producing the RO every month. I also notice that the members--and the Editor--is asking for input and contributions from the younger generations. As someone working full time and with a...
