Heathrow Express class 387s

The first HEx-liveried, GWR-operated 387s have arrived at Reading depot. 387130 and 387140 carry a new HEx livery, nothing like that carried by the 332s (even allowing for the Tata adverts). Image available here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pdeaves/47929913333/.

Whatever you chose to do is your business. However, I would urge you to keep in sight that the ...

Re: Prisoner of War Camp Halt

There is no mention in Quick's 'Railway Passenger Stations'. It doesn't particularly help your quest!

Can I ask what you mean by this? I assume 'good' should be 'bad'!

Station access

Remember last December when Southeastern ran (briefly) into London Waterloo? In line with today's contract-centred businesses, an agreement had to be set up with the station operator (Network Rail, in this case) to do so. Lists of which companies have access rights to which stations are now availabl...

The local dictionaries from sheffield & Rotherham councils & from stagecoach supertram / SYPTE / press from railway publications / local television & radio stations where treated to 399204 before the public runs commenced at 0939... 'Dictionaries' intrigues me! (I know you meant dignitaries). Servi...

Re: Blast from the past

Seen at Coventry today: 2018-10-13 48 old posters at Coventry copy.jpg Far left (just visible) was something to do with visiting Wales. Next, I don't know what the 'special notice' poster described. 'Train departures from Coventry' (two panels) is dated 30 September 1985 to 11 May 1986. Penultimate ...

Re: Could Class 08's be used as Emergency Generators?

Can anyone help with this one? In answer to the question posed in the thread title, yes, a class 08 could be used as a generator. It is essentially a mobile generator with a bit of equipment allowing it to move itself. Regarding the finer detail of whether any 08s were in actuality fitted with exte...
