Re: Real Crush Toofew Seats
Not too many RCTS railtours unfortunately, but recall this one, a 4 car TP unit plus a 2 car, so with 6 coaches would doubt a lack of seats! Maxey often had a way with words ;) if it was his write up. https://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/80s/820413bc.htm https://www.railcar.co.uk/images/3667 Railcar w...

Re: Library
I made my first 'official' visit as an RCTS member to the Library and Archive at Leatherhead today and seeing the finished 'product' (as opposed to the empty shell I had seen previously when it was being fitted out), made me very proud that the Society has now a 'Home' base and resource for research...

Re: W. E. Boyd collection
I believe copyright may only last for a number of years though? The following was obtained by Googling your question. ?How long does copyright last? In the UK, copyright in artistic works generally lasts for the lifetime of the artist plus 70 years after their death. Some exceptions apply, for insta...

Re: STEAM at Swindon
Visited Swindon for a private invited visit to the Historic England HQ now based in the Eastern end of the old works. Whilst much is still recognisable and as it was forty plus years ago, sadly, everything stops at the old turntable, now looking forlorn with rotten timbers. Because of my commitments...

IET Cl.800 East Coast workings
As a forward looking society, we should be embracing the introduction of the IET units as these are the future, whether we like it or not. There are numerous training runs being carried out on the East Coast Route, at present with Kings Cross, Peterborough, Newark, Retford, Doncaster IET depot, Shaf...

Re: London & North Eastern Railway Company
Made my first LNER trip yesterday. Interestingly some of the staff seem to have regained their sense of pride and helpfulness. The T.M. on our London bound service was exemplary and really made passengers feel welcome and even resolved a dilemma for staff in the buffet. Top marks!! Better than Hull ...

Re: Survey / Questionaire
I would highlight that a few of the organisations that are ?weathering the storm?/decline seem to have active railway staff amongst their organisers. They know who to speak to and clearly get results. The RCTS has and still has, I believe, numerous active railway staff amongst its ranks and the bran...

Re: Immingham Port Open Days
Not only an interesting tour of the UK's largest Port but also a chance to visit the museum at Immingham Civic Centre, with a delightful recreation of Immingham Loco in steam days in 4mm scale and a model of Barnetby in 2mm. Information and relics dating from the opening of the Port in GCR days thro...

Immingham Port Open Days
Immingham Port are running two open days in July. A rare opportunity to see inside the dock gates! Obviously an important rail freight connected facility that seems to be expanding. http://www.abports.co.uk/newsarticle/644/ All visitors need to book the tours in advance which can be done online, (se...
