Re: LAST DAY OF SERVICE

Based on the human frailty of wanting something that in future you can't have any more. Always strikes me that (subject to Government Policies and the like), why wait for the last day? If it were heavily utilised on a regular basis, it would be unlikely to be closing. For instance how many people tr...

Re: SOCIETY HISTORY

A quick look in an August 1979 R.O. lists a Stoke on Trent Branch which doesn't appear in the current magazine or web list. I presume this branch has disappeared?

Maybe a case of having "Their Heads in the Sand" and "I hear nothing and I see nothing"?
Hardly a responsible or accountable attitude for those now managing a charity?

Re: Royal Train Formations of the 1970s and 1980s

I have seen the Royal Train a few times, but can clearly recall it running apparently empty stock heading west in the Sheffield direction through Retford low level. Re: West Wales Week Rail Rover Ticket Summer 1977

Kevi, You have sent me on to review my normal records for the week, rather than the Railrover record. From this, the date of 13th August 1977 shows, and it appears that I travelled to Swansea by car then did a Swansea - Neath run behind 43007 and 43006! Also noted on this day at Swansea were 43025 a...

Re: West Wales Week Rail Rover Ticket Summer 1977

Kevin, I have referred to the original written records which appear to be the only question mark in the whole week. I have therefore deleted the reference to 43006/7. At this point in time I cannot recall if there was a swap of sets at this point or not. It is the only question mark over the whole w...
