The Worst Ever

Can any member let us all know what in their opinion was the worst Modernisation Plan diesel locomotive type purchased by British Railways? In my opinion it was the Metrovick Co-Bos, not only did they have a dismal appearance but also the power unit was unreliable. This is all second hand though as ...

Dalescroft Railfans

Does anyone remember Dalescroft Railfans ? if I have the name correct? I recall being introduced to them by a colleague at work when he found out I had a railway interest. I seem to recall a cheaply produced newsletter with observations and stock alterations. Amongst the gen was the first renumberin...

SOUTHERN DISPUTE

The current dispute between Southern and their conductors represented by the RMT and their drivers represented by ASLEF looks to be turning out to be the longest running on the railways and may end up being the longest in any industry. Class 508s

Re: Non member users and BOTS

The founders of the Society must have included that word in the society name for good reason and I think they would be astonished to find that we had a facility like this to correspond about railways, yet failed to use it.

Re: Non member users and BOTS

At a meeting of the Society web-committee two years ago those present were asked to stoke the forum with some interesting topics. Interesting topics? Are these interesting? Are the new initiatives from the Transport Secretary Chris Grayling just another change that the railway does not need? What is...

Re: Members' Weekend and Officers Conference 2016

At present it is not possible to say when the minutes will be available - there is a process that involves a number of officers to arrive at the finished document being available for all to read. Only a modest start has been made in their preparation but for a change the conference finished before t...
