WR HST Formations 1976-78

Postby Kevin Daniel » Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:43 pm

I realise the forum membership is relatively small compared to that of the RCTS as a whole, but just wanted to draw attention to my advert (below) in the October RO requesting information on WR HST operation.

WR HST FORMATIONS 1976-1978 – HELP REQUIRED. I am in need of reports detailing Western Region HST running formations (power cars and trailers) observed during 1976-78. In addition to an accurate date, other information such as location, service working would be welcome if available. Details of sets on test runs/special workings also of use, as are reports of vehicles/units on depots or works. I realise relevant information is scarce, so would value the efforts of anyone taking the time to trawl through old notebooks in response to my request. Any reports whether they be large or small would be welcome. I am willing to negotiate payment for relevant information supplied. Write with/or for details to:- Kevin Daniel, 49 Warland Rd, Plumstead, SE18 2EX or e-mail kevindaniel020@gmail.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If anybody can assist it would be much appreciated. I do not require lists of booked formations or allocations, or direction to the relevant pages of the RO in 1976-78. I realise a lot of enthusiasts ignored the HSTs when they first appeared so appreciate that the material I am looking for is rare. In terms of the observations, I prefer full formations, but usually can make sense of records that identify sets by power car pairings or Class 253 unit number.

I have placed similar requests in the RO occasionally since 1989 and have had a positive response help from many individuals who have generously shared their notes/observations. There are still many gaps, anomalies and conflicts in my records so would welcome any new information. I am willing to negotiate payment if required - I know that it can take a great deal of time to transcribe notes. In terms of speeding up the process I have found digital cameras, scanners and email offer a quick method for reproducing and transferring information.

Thanks

Kevin

Hope members will excuse the "bumping" of my original post from 2015.

I am still in search of observations WR HST formations from 1976-78. My contact details remain the same, and I continue to offer payment or Charitable donations for contributions received. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

I am still in search of HST observations on the WR during 1976-78 as outlined in my original post. A trip to the RCTS Archive produced a small amount of new information but I wonder if any new members to the Forum might be able to assist. My contact details remain the same, and any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin
