Blast from the past

Postby pdeaves » Fri Sep 16, 2016 6:32 pm

Just for fun:

What former railway branding still exists on the network? I mean things that should have gone years ago, rather than still in transition from the previous franchise.

To open proceedings, a waiting room door at Slough still has a Network SouthEast flash (see Image, from https://www.flickr.com/photos/pdeaves/29066786704/).

Above the text area where you type the message, there are 'formatting' buttons. Use 'Img' and put in the URL of the picture (it has to be an actual picture URL, not a web page containing the image, so it may be necessary to explore to find the actual image file link). Hope this helps!

I have tried that, using a link from flickr, but all I get is a little square box with a cross inside it.

I'm not clear that I have a link to the picture itself rather than a flickr webpage.

No, that will just be the Flickr page. If in doubt, use 'URL' and link to the page instead, rather than imbed the photo, to make sure we can all see the picture by some means or another!

The image I was trying to post is here. It shows 57007 at Royston on the AGA stock move. Immediately to the left of the loco is Royston's one remaining piece of signage from the WAGN era, which is two franchise changes ago. The lettering has all fallen off but the name can still be made out because the background has faded much more than where the letters used to be.

At the other end of the station the concrete posts for the old enamel running in board survive, though obviously with no sign.

Here's another. Customer help desk sign at Didcot in old Great Western Trains colours (i.e. pre-First Great Western).
