Dalescroft club and Dale W Fickes

Postby tolley » Wed Jan 17, 2018 2:14 pm

Hi all I am a new member and wondered if anyone has information on Dale W Fickes and the Dalescroft Club. I was a member in the 70’s as a young teenager. I am particularly interested in a rail tour I went on to Scotland in 1974. I took loads of photographs but all have been lost. I know the trip was over two days because we stayed in a hotel somewhere. Does anyone remember? I remember Fort William Shed and that is about it!

I went on the Easter Tour of Scotland in 1974 which was from 13th to 15th April. Dalescroft used to run 2 or 3 trips to Scotland over Easter from various parts of the country so what you saw was dependant upon which tour you were on. I was on the tour from Leeds/Bradford which started with Millerhill then took in the East Coast stabling points before an overnight stop in Inverness. The following day started with a tour around Inverness shed and then down to Fort William and then the North Clyde area. We stayed overnight in the Glasgow area before taking in Glasgow Works and then out to Ayr and then finishing at Carlisle. I took part in three Easter trips with the club. The itinerary varied a little with each with us sometimes taking in the more remote shunter locations. Hope this helps.

Thank you, a great help. I was from Derby so probably a different tour but they probably used the same hotels. Will see if anything else comes out of the woodwork.
