As promised here is an H Priestley photo of a RCTS excursion at Garthorpe on 24 Sept 1958 (well before your time!). A lively scene, clearly the RCTS were not confined to the platform like ordinary passengers.
Both the RCTS and the LCGB were notorious for bad ?track-side? behaviour. One one occasion I witnessed a chap on a step ladder, sprint back to his car for a saw to remove an offending bough from his view.
Did we really have that reputation?
