I have just been given a copy the March 1940 issue No133 Railway observer and have been trying to workout the depot codes
For the GWR locos.

I know the usual codes that were used but have no idea about the ones in the magazine,the following is how they are shown.

Eng. Dep. Eng. Dep. Eng. Dep
1163. 108. 2446. 37. 3291. 119

Can anyone help with depot numbers.

I addition to the letter codes (such as ABDR for Aberdare) the GWR also used numeric codes for their running sheds.
